Tennis West

Tennis West is more than just a group of retired tennis players. While social tennis is the main focus for the group, the opportunity to enjoy social interaction with other members is an important element.

The Club meets every Monday and Thursday morning at the Glenlea Tennis Club, Ferguson Ave. Glenelg North. We play men’s, women’s and mixed doubles throughout the year from 8.30am to 12 noon. It’s social tennis and not competitive. Players are of varying standards and beginners are most welcome.

The cost to play is $3.00 per week and this covers court hire, balls and free tea, coffee and biscuits. In addition, the Club organises a number of social lunches and sausage sizzles throughout the year.

Although the Club has over 70 members we have some 30 to 35 members playing on any given day.
Social tennis is a great way to keep fit and active and is a lot of fun. Although the average age of members is around 65 we do have a number of members in their 80s still playing a mean game of tennis.
At Glenlea Tennis Club we have access to an excellent facility with 6 courts and a very comfortable Clubroom, which is the venue for all our social functions. With a little bit of effort from the Committee the Clubroom is transformed to a restaurant environment for our Christmas and mid year lunches.
Tennis West is a very friendly group and the Club encourages new seniors to come along and learn to play, be active and have some fun at the same time.
