Aim of the Association
ARPA's aim is to provide support and opportunities to its members such that they are able to pursue an active and fulfilling life style through participation in physical, social, educational and service activities.
The Association's Profile
The Australian Retired Persons Association (SA) Inc, known as ARPA, was established in 1981 and now has over 5,000 members. ARPA provides members with a range of activities, opportunities for friendship and, above all, a feeling of worth as members of the association. Everyone aged 50 and over who is retired or considering retirement is welcome as members.
A state council consisting of 15 members is responsible for management of the ARPA association. The central office, ARPA House, is located at 84 Archer St North Adelaide and is staffed by ARPA members on a voluntary roster basis with two salaried staff to assist with the day to day operation.
There are a number of social groups called regional groups that are open to all ARPA members throughout the state of South Australia from Gawler in the north to Mount Gambier in the south. Each group operated by its own committee to organise various activities according to the interests of its members.
There are also a number of activity based groups that cater to a broad range of interests. Activities range from sedentary pursuits such as Art Appreciation & Classical Music through to more physically demanding activities such as Bushwalking & Tennis.
ARPA also provides a wide range of benefits and services, many of which are free of charge to members.
